TURKISH MANUSCRIPT WORKS IN KANDİLLİ OBSERVATORY AND EARTHQUAKE RESEARCH INSTITUTE LIBRARY

Elginkan Foundation donated 60.000 TL for printing and publishing of the work titled 'Turkish Manuscripts in Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute Library' prepared by the Lecturers of Boğaziçi University.  The collection, in which the oldest Turkish manuscript belongs to the 15th century, is perhaps the only collection, in which manuscript works on the same subject are found collectively.  Moreover, the manuscript has important place among collections in the world in sense that it contains several works with a single or rare copy or has very old dated copies.

The catalogue, first volume of which was printed by our Foundation in 2007 and second volume of which was published in 2012, is an important source for researchers.  Originals of manuscripts collection in Arabic, Persian and Ottoman were scanned and arranged one by one by a team led by Boğaziçi University Department of Turkish Language and Literature Founding Chairman Prof. Dr. Günay Kurt.
